Thinking about throwing a halloween bash but October 31st is sneaking up on you? Well you’re in luck! Heirloom is sharing some spooky, stylish treats that will make your party pop. Check out below for a few of our indulgent (and semi-healthy) treats.
Mini Jack-O-lantern Salad Bowls
Who says a jack-o-lantern has to be made from a pumpkin? Oranges are the perfect substitute and these hallowed out oranges make for great makeshift bowls for a mixed salads or finger food. And they double as delicious decorations too.
You’ll Need:
- Oranges
- Knife
- Spoon
- Salad & dressing of your choice
Serving Size: 1 orange cup per guest, so make as many as you’ll need (always good to prepare a few extras, just in case!)
Instructions:
Just like a pumpkin, simply cut off the top, carve out the guts and draw and slice out a face. Then fill with your favorite treat, we filled ours with cranberry mixed greens salad.
Monster Mix
Satisfy all your taste buds with a monster mix of sweet, salty, AND sour flavors – what could be better?
You’ll Need:
- M&Ms
- Candy worms
- Candycorn
- Dried fruit
- Pretzels
- Peanuts*
- Walnuts*
- Mason jars
Serving Size: 1 jar per guest (again, always good to prepare a few extras for the kiddos).
Instructions:
No tricks on this one, just mix everything together in a bowl and serve up in mini mason jars and Ta-da! You can also substitute some of your other favorite dried fruit, candies, and savory snacks. This is a great way to repurpose existing items in your pantry too.
*NOTE: Be sure to mix a few sans nuts in case people have peanut allergies.
Mini Mousse Tombstones
Chocolate mousse with bite-sized tombstone cookies. Easy to prepare and to die for good.
You’ll Need:
- Pint (2 cups) heavy whipping cream, well chilled
- 10 to 12 oz bittersweet baking chocolate (60% to 70% cacao), broken into small pieces
- 8 Oreo cookies
- 4 Sugar cookies
- 1 oz Frosting
- 4 Shot glasses
Serving Size: Makes 4
Instructions:
Beat whipping cream in medium bowl until stiff peaks form. Then set aside and melt chocolate in a double boiler (or in bowl set on a saucepan) over simmering water. Fold the melted chocolate into whipped cream and refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving. Fill up shot glasses with mousse, add a layer of crumbled Oreos then a top with a sugar cookie decorated with icing to look like mini graves.
We hope these sweet and simple ideas have inspired you and gotten you as excited about Halloween as we have! See? Preparing for party doesn’t have to be scary after all.
