After a busy June, hot hot July, and relaxing August, Summer has somehow come to an end. We aren’t sad though, because we love the Fall and all of the seasonal bites that come with it. To celebrate the holiday weekend, we’ve gone ahead and put together two easy, delicious (and stylish) treats to help you be the hostess with the mostess.
Create these delicious DIY desserts to help send off the summer the right way!
Marshmallow Poppers
Ingredients:
- ¼ cup of butter
- 4 cups of mini marshmallows
- 5 cups of crisp rice cereal
- Strawberries
- Sprinkles
- Figs (our obsession is real)
- Plain Greek Yogurt
- Local Honey
- Milk Chocolate Chips
- Blueberries
- Coconut Flakes
You will also need:
- Large sauce pan
- Parchment paper
- Wooden popsicle sticks
First, melt the butter in a large pan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until well-blended. Cook for 2 more minutes (stirring constantly). Remove the pan from heat.
Next, add the crisp rice cereal to the pan and stir until nicely coated.
Using waxed paper or a buttered spatula press that yummy marshmallow mix into a pan coated with cooking spray.
Give these delicious treats several minutes to cool before cutting into small 2-inch squares!
Go ahead and melt the milk chocolate chips on the stove or in the microwave and place in a small bowl.
Finally, it’s time to create! Insert the popsicle sticks into the center of the treat and dip or drizzle your desired amount of chocolate and/or Greek yogurt onto the ends of each freshly baked crisp treat (these base toppings are SO delicious but, also help to secure the additional toppings).
After dipping the delicious treats (no judgement if you took a little taste!) lay them out of parchment paper and start to add your sprinkles, fruits, and anything else you desire. You can make them healthy, patriotic, or sweet as can be. Just like that you’ve created a dessert bite that will have all of your guests (and Instagram followers) talking.
Next up: Holiday Bark
Ingredients
- 2 cups plain greek yogurt
- 2 tablespoons local honey
- Strawberries
- Figs
- Local Honey
- Blueberries
You’ll also need:
- Aluminum foil
- Any sort of pan
Go ahead and gather any of the leftover toppings from your pops to create this bark. Combine your
greek yogurt with your honey in a bowl. You can mix your toppings in now, or wait to lay them on top of the bark base in the pan.
Put down your aluminum foil on your pan of choice, and pour out your greek yogurt mixture. You can now lay down your fruits and treats onto the greek yogurt layer.
Place in freezer, and wait a few hours for your bark to completely freeze. Don’t worry, it’s worth the wait!
