For 364 days a year, Mom takes care of you. There’s only one day that’s truly about her: Mother’s day. This year, take the opportunity to show her how much you appreciate her.
At Heirloom, we love to cook, and so we show our mothers just how much we care with a yummy, home cooked meal. It’s a chance to let Mom put her feet up and take a break from cooking for once. In three simple steps, let her relax and satisfy her taste buds with a delicious breakfast she’ll always remember. She won’t even have to get out of bed!
Step 1: The Menu
At Heirloom, we are known for our stylish bites, extraordinary flavor and creative presentation but we always love a classic and beautifully plated meal. And because mom is the sweetest, we want to serve her a delicious plate of our Signature Lemon Ricotta & Wild Berry Pancakes…and we think you should too!
Here’s a list of scaled down and simple ingredients to make it easy for you to whip up at home!
– Whole Milk/Grass-fed (no bHT hormone) Ricotta
– A jar of Lemon Curd. Trader Joe’s has a good one!
– Fresh Berries from your local Market if possible
– Pancake Mix. We suggest Immaculate Company Pancake Mix. Naturally derived and delicious (no bleached or bromated flour, no aluminum baking powder, no artificial preservatives & no HFCS uses sugar)! Yay.
– Grass-fed Butter
Step 1 – Mix Pancake Mix as instructions describe.
Step 2 – Mix 1/2 Cup of Ricotta Cheese with 1 TB Lemon Curd
Step 3 – Fold Ricotta blend into Pancake Mixture
Cook Pancakes on a well buttered cast iron pot or pan on medium. Stack them high and top with fresh berries and Real Maple Syrup.
Garnish the plate with fresh flowers and voila, you’re now an expert food stylist 😉
Step 2: The Drink
Mom’s a classic beauty, so let’s serve her a classic with fresh squeezed citrus. Mimosa’s. Yes, please!
All you need are five fresh oranges, a juicer, and a bottle of champagne. Soften your oranges by squeezing them in your hands or rolling them across the counter top. Then cut them in half and remove the seeds.
Place one halved orange and squeeze it on the juicer. Continue with each of your oranges until you fill a pitcher, then pour in your bubbly. Happy Mother’s Day indeed!
Pour your hand-crafted Mimosa in a beautiful crystal flute (go ahead and steak one from Mom’s fine china chest).
Step 3: The Presentation
Assemble your yummy & stylishly plated breakfast, Mimosa, along with a cloth napkin and flatware at the table. Don’t forget a glass of water, some fresh blooms and a thoughtful card. Mom will feel appreciated and loved and you’ll be her favorite child for the day!
